Week #1: How Search Works

Hello!

For those who do not know. I am Sabiha and I am a senior (woot woot!!!) I cannot wait to be done in May! My major is social science and my minor is marketing. I love marketing because it involves not just creativity but a better understanding of what the audience wants. This is the last marketing class I need to take to complete my minor and it is sad because I have learned so much from this experience. I am excited to take the beginning steps of learning content development and search engine optimization.

For week 1 I will be discussing the video made by Google called, "How Search Works" I don't think prior to watching the video I ever really thought about how Google search works. I assumed aspects such as keywords played a role in the search engine process. What was interesting to me from the video was the idea that Google has 'spiders' the job of the spiders is to collect all relevant information from Google's index. You can type anything into the search bar and the spiders will collects every piece of information in the database to find what you are looking for and separate it based on which is most useful.

Images and SEO Images are important because they grasp the attention of consumers. Companys should make sure they have nice clean pictures that relate to their content. It is also important to have a color palette that matches because the last thing you want is to seem outdated. Including images in content can also help bring traffic to your site as you can include keywords within your images as well. Google looks for content that is organized and clean because it wants to block out any kind of "spammy" sites from being associated with it. That's why sites that have a direct and clear message will get higher hits than those that do not. I encourage anyone out there who is thinking about using it to take a leap and do it. Week #16: LinkedIn

Chapter 6: LinkedIn Now LinkedIn is fantastic. Especially if you're seeking a job. But it’s also fantastic if you want to advertise for yourself or your business. It’s best used to market your business to other businesses, aka that B2B life. This social media tool is much more limited in your audience. The users are mostly professionals so your tone of advertising has to be concise, professional, and engaging all at once. This makes it difficult but not impossible to market. The way you can hype yourself up is by connecting to relevant people and listing your accomplishments as well as including links or attachments to samples of your work. People will come flocking to your business if you use your LinkedIn profile effectively. But in my personal opinion, this social media website is great for connecting with people who have similar backgrounds as you. If that’s your target audience, then go for it! Happy LinkedIn-ing!
