Week #4: Keywords

Campaign strategies are just as important as choosing the right keywords for your campaign. Google provides many different kinds of tools that will assist you in being successful when it comes to your ads. An Ad Group contains one or more ads, which target a shared set of keywords. Now, as discussed before, keywords play a huge role in the success of online ads. You can create a cost per click or a CPC bid/price to be used when the ad appears due to the ad group’s keywords being activated. It is helpful to create categories for products on your website. This will not only organize your keywords but also create higher chances of clicks on your ad. In an example given straight from Adwords help center, it is shown that restaurant selling desserts, beverages, and snacks would make 3 different ad groups applying to each ad as shown in the image below.
It is extremely helpful for advertisers to use this method of having multiple ad groups catering to specific products. It is important to make sure that each ad group has its own set of keywords. When creating keywords it is very important to think as a customer would. However, also be mindful that each keyword should reflect the overall theme of the ad.

If you have any question there are a number of ways to contact Google. Just like any company has a customer service number, Google also has a number that can be called when your question demands an answer. If you’re not the talking on the phone type person (as many millennials are) there is also an option to direct chat with the people at Google who can help you better understand how everything works.

Happy Ad-ing!
